Emily Acker is a founding member of critically acclaimed producing playwrights collective Orbiter 3  and serves as Alumni Council Program Director and Paula Vogel Mentors Project Literary Manager at Philadelphia Young Playwrights.

Her plays include Milk and Honey, The Matter of Nadiyah Hassan, Will Work For Silence, I Am Not My Motherland, and Safe Space, co-written with Emma Goidel and Douglas Williams.

She was a Eugene O'Neill New Play Conference Finalist and is the winner of the Young Playwrights Inc. National Playwriting Competition, the Philadelphia Young Playwrights Annual Playwriting Competition, and the Northwestern University Agnes Nixon New Work Festival. She also contributed to the final season of All My Children on Hulu+.  

She is a Core Playwright for InterAct Theatre and a member of the Philadelphia Foundry, a lab for emerging playwrights. Her work has been developed by Act II Playhouse, Azuka Theatre, InterAct Theatre, Philadelphia New Play Initiative, Philadelphia Young Playwrights, Plays and Players Theatre, Young Playwrights Inc., Temple University and Northwestern University, where she received her B.S in 2013.
